While the walls were made of planked wood, the entire design of the room was quite grand, with all the carved dragons on the pillars and the statues at the end of the large staircase, Lexy walked into the room and looked around in surprise. “Oh? Is this the bandit boss’s home?”

“Mmm, it seems to be,” Megalim answered. But she felt something was off when she looked at the bandit boss. She reached out and tugged on Lexy’s hand. “Lexy, I think we should leave….”

Lexy turned and looked at Megalim with a confused expression. “What’s wron….”

“Leave? You just got here.” The bandit boss’s voice echoed through the room. He turned and bowed his head to Lexy. “My Queen, while I am yours to command, I still have a duty I must deal with, and that is anyone who steps into this hall must die even if it is my Queen.”

“This…” Lexy quickly jumped back and pulled Megalim behind her as she drew her sword whip. She stared at the bandit boss with cold eyes as she yelled out: “What is the meaning of this? You are part of my demon queen army. Are you turning traitor!?”

“No, my Queen, I am not a traitor! I am … just…. Ahhhhh!” The bandit boss’s mind seemed as if it was going to blow up. He kept having this intent in his mind that he must kill everyone who enters this room. But he did not wish to be deemed a traitor to his Queen!

The bandit boss fell to his knees, holding his head. And began screaming out in pain: “Ahhhh!!! I do not want to betray my Queen! Nooo! I must kill everyone in this room! My Queen!!!! Kill!!!!!”

Megalim cringed as she witnessed this scene. She felt bad for the bandit boss, who seemed to be in horrible pain as he fought against some kind of connection between his old code and his new code as Lexy’s follower. “Lexy, what should we do?”

“I…. I do not know… I tried to summon him back, but it was not working! I keep getting an error!” Lexy was also at a loss. She never expected such a turn of events. “What if we left the room? Maybe it will help him.”

“Mm…” Megalim nodded. They were not far from the door, they just needed to leave the room, and maybe the bandit boss would return to normal.

“Ahhhh! You can not leave!” The Bandit boss roared, and as if on command, the big doors that were still open slammed shut and were covered with a blue barrier. 

“He locked us in!” Lexy was very familiar with this barrier. It was a boss room barrier locking players in place, forcing them to fight the boss. She had the same thing happen to her when she met Nana.  “What do we do now….”

“Yawn....” A voice came from Lexy’s collar. “Hmmm… Lexy, what are you doing? Things seem interesting.”

“Nana, you're awake! Perfect timing! Is there a spell that can restrain the bandit boss? I do not want to harm him. I need time to figure out what is wrong with him.” Lexy desperately asked. She did not wish to fight someone who was struggling with their mentality. Not when that person was supposed to be on her side. While he was weird and loved saying panties, he still helped her greatly. She quickly explained to Nana what was going on.

“Hmm... Mhmmm…  Oh… I see… It seems the boss of this place is bugged. By willingly becoming your minion, it was supposed to overwrite his code so that he would be fully loyal to you. But because of his level and the fact that he is a boss, that code was not fully overwritten. I do not think the army minion thing you got there was meant for bosses.” Nana explained.

“But… What do we do? Limlim and I can not hurt him… Not when he is already in so much pain.” Lexy bit her lip. She really did not want to fight him.

“I hate to say it, Lexy, but the only way to save him is to defeat him. You do not need to kill him but wear him down enough so that his boss code becomes weaker, and then you should be able to store him in your army minon space. You said you are unable to give him missions or commands, right? This is because he is still designated as a boss mob within the system. Why do you think I decided to form a contract with you? That was so I could break the binds of the system and leave that damn room. Also, because you were cute and right up my ally. I mean, those screams when the mage girl over there went down on you was… Ahem… ” Nana quickly stopped speaking and cleared her through as she knew she had just given herself away. She just hoped Lexy did not pick up on it.

“What was the last part you said, Nana? I missed that….” Lexy really did not catch the last sentence as the bandit bosses’ screams were very loud.

“I said whether you want to or not, you will need to fight the boss of this room. Get his health down to at least one hundred health, and then try to de-summon him. By doing so, you should be able to break the system and destroy any remains of the boss code he has.” Nana answered, completely changing what she said.

“I have to fight… Alright… If this is what is needed, but I can not hit him with my whip, it has a chance for instant death….” Lexy felt lost once more. She could not use her weapon, or it might cause an instant kill on the bandit boss.

“Then sheath it and use your fist. Remember, you are not bound by the system if you are not using a weapon. so punches and kicks will work. Your stats will stay the same even if you do not use the whip.”
