Gemini Vampires
Soul Power Baby part 1
"Thank you for coming, Ms. Newsome," Scarlett says while curtseying in her emerald-green sundress that just happened to be her favorite at the moment. She loved this dress brought out her eyes exotic color even if it wasn't popular in this world. The church has always targeted redheads as soulless monsters who served the Red Evil.
"Of course, you know that I look forward to our classes as much as you do, Scarlett," Replied Ms. Newsome. She goes to sit next to the piano gesturing for her student to begin.
Scarlett sits and opens her music book sitting on the piano stand. She begins to play a soft, soothing melody that seems to melt the soul. It starts gently on the deeper end of the spectrum, highlighting the weight that holds us down. As it progresses to the notes in the upper octave like a struggle was happening, and it seems to grow with the occasional flurry of movement. Finally, after moments of struggling, we feel ourselves breaking free. With this shift, the whole piece moves into the upper octave like song birds singing, releasing us from our bindings. The melody cascades and drifts as we follow the story to a close, where the deep undertones rise up once more, feeling the bass bring us to peace at last.
Having played not a note of the music on the book before her as though possessed. Her eyes remained closed since the beginning, seemingly in a trance. Her teacher in her lavender pants suit, choosing not to move as she was afraid to bring the child out of this state. After listening to such a marvelous piece of music, her heart was filled with gratification.
Meanwhile
<Bravo! Bravo! :whistling: Whoop! Whoop! Damn, girl, you got some skills. This is so much better than when I could barely make out the noise in my box.>
: Shush! I don't even know how I played that.:
< Do you take requests? Totally gotta play some blues, or maybe great balls of fire. That ought to shake the pants off these ladies.>
: I don't know that song and what is blues.:
Suddenly an image of Noctis completely flabbergasted looks at her, followed by a wave of sadness washing over her like a blanket of depression.
<Son of a monkey you don't even know blues, give me a minute and let's see if I can project a song for you. See if you can play it>
She vividly remembers pride and joy and starts playing it in her mind seeing if Scarlett can copy it while she thinks it.
As the music plays, it is faint at first, and she can barely make it out until it gets louder. She can now make it out clearly and instantly falls in love. She has never heard anything like it in her life. Unfortunately, she doesn't know that due to her alternate history and the church's prominence, most of humanity is not very artistic unless it comes to their faith. Unlike other worlds with a plethora of religions, this world only has one, which is the Holy Roman empire's faith.
Blues had never come to be, and because of that, rock and roll never happened, nor pop. All that exists is classical music, followed by religious music, opera, and country somehow survived. Another weird alt world history trivia is that the slave trade wasn't conducted from Africa but from Ireland. This seemingly innocuous change cascaded, causing a widespread number of other changes. One of those was the proliferation of disenfranchised pale-skinned redheads that filled the only place left for asylum, the United States. People of this world don't hate because of skin color. Instead, they hate unbelievers, and you guessed it, "RED-HEADED DEVILS." They believe redheads lack a soul and are possessed by beings from another world hell-bent on sowing chaos as ordered by the Red Evil.
This simple act of sharing music had started something that was sure to change the future of this world. A transfer of knowledge suddenly swept the two of them to gain information about the worlds they both have lived in. War and suffering, Art, music, and history flowed between the two as Scarlett finally began to understand Noctis. Even if it was just a little bit, the two grew closer together.
: Alright, I know it, and I will play it just for you, big sis.:
Her mental tone of voice is seemingly sweet for the first time.
With a complete understanding of an individual's very being comes love. A love of truly knowing someone, understanding her at such a deep level, she can only accept her within her heart or reject her entirely.
Scarlett starts playing again, but now she plays pride and joy, a song holding special meaning in Noctis’ past life. This song was a favorite shared with her mother in her previous life. Something about the song touches her heart, and the feeling flows into the music and fills the room with passion while tears stream from her eyes.
As the music ends, she comes to as though leaving a trance. Noticing both her mom and teacher sitting at the side with tears in their eyes, as they have never heard of music so touching to the soul. Her mother believes she has a crazy prodigy of a daughter. Yet, the piano instructor simply wants to learn this new type of music at the same time.
<Sob . . . sob, my little sister is the best whaaaaaaaaaa.>
"Sorry, I kind of got caught in the moment. It has been an emotional couple of days." She says while smiling, attempting to lighten the mood.
"What do you call that last song? I have never heard a tune like this before." Ms. Newsome asks with stars in her eyes.
"Yes, darling, what was that sublime music," Michelle speaks, wanting more.
"The type of music is called blues, and it's really meant to be played on the guitar, but I don't know how to play the guitar," Scarlett replies shyly.
"Then we must get you guitar lessons immediately." Her mother says.
<You sure are popular. Come on, let's get ice cream, cookies, smores, hot cocoa. I want sweets>
The image of Noctis throwing a crying tantrum almost makes her laugh out loud.
