Chapter 56: The tragic ending

Promicarus calmly looked around waiting for that Hero to do something but…

Nothing happened!

They had completely run away - abandoning the fight as soon as they realised they didn’t stand a chance against her! Thinking that she was victorious against this amatuer hero the malicious smile couldn’t help but form. Her grin grew from cheek to cheek as she slowly turned towards the hero’s companion. Her glee was quite apparent when she spoke.

“It would seem as if  you haft been abandoned by the fat chested dragon ~!” <Promicarus>

However, despite the cow being seemingly timid she just lifted her shoulders in a shrug while silently looking straight towards her.  As if waiting patiently for something. The Cow didn’t utter a word or let out a whimper causing the tanned girl to turn that grin downside up. She had won yet it felt oddly hollow; she wasn’t used to winning bit is this how it went?

With these thoughts going on inside her head she slowly massaged her chin while crossing one arm under her chest. Her hips slowly fell to one side as she looked around calmly to see the scared faces of all the surrounding adventurers & villages. The village didn’t used to be as big as it did but with the growing tensions over the last few years border villages out of the way like this one saw great growth.

Somehow no matter how much she thought her mind kept coming back to the growth of the village… Why did they grow so much? Well it was because far more rookie adventurers (F to E with a couple D) who were worried about war tensions migrated away from the larger cities where they would possibly be recruited for war efforts. Although it was great for business for adventurers it was mostly true for only D rank and above. E-Ranks tended to be stronger than your average guard but they were hardly inhuman.

<Instead E-ranks flocked to places where it would be easier to hunt in peace… Hunt… Hunter…>

For some reason that word kept floating around in her mind but she just couldn-

Suddenly an orb of light appeared in the sky from behind the adventurers guild causing Promicarus to put up her guard. With a slight twitch of her hand the giant puppet raised it’s guard, lifting it’s two swords in preparation for what could come from behind that building. It appeared that it was a simple buff spell that enhanced the effects of light spells to her; it made sense that the hero would do this.

“Heh, this one must admit she’s impressed, she must’ve realised she couldn’t charge at myself head on with mine perfect creation acting as my own perfect guard. This led her to instead decide to take advantage of her natural regeneration. Winning through bombarding me at a distance with light magic in a battle of attrition… Smarter than I expected of thou…” <Promicarus>

She grinned with excitement while waiting for the dragon, who should’ve used this time to fully buff herself, as they engaged in an epic duel of magics…

That grin of hers vanished the next second.

A figure (spoilers it was Eel) suddenly exploded out from the ground between her and her puppet causing Promicarus to widen her eyes. The surprise of the entire thing actually made her step back instinctively only to cause her to swing her arms and begin falling backwards; who could blame her for this though? Since when could this fat chested freak pop out the ground like a fucking mole and why had it not been told to her!

Then again her father was a Drake/Earth Dragon while she practised the green magic of the spirits. This is even ignoring that her ancestors list included Gaia. It should’ve been quite obvious she could do something as simple as burrowing through the ground.

Yet Eel didn’t seem to want to answer as her right and left hand formed a very familiar stance. It was a stance she had been constantly warned about as this girl's ace in the whole, a stance renowned throughout the whole world as the fastest sword art,  the [True God Art - Deciding Draw]!

Gritting her teeth so much they deformed - if she could bleed she would’ve.

Promicarus knew she had made a mistake for real this time so would have to show off a bit more of what she could do to stop herself becoming two selves. Between the two girls another rift appeared from which a bizarre creation of a wall made from bones; more specifically humanoid skeletons submerged in a black ‘goop’. The skeletons had all their flesh removed leading to their bones being surprisingly clean and their jaws constantly let out a chattering sound as they silently screamed. The monstrous creation was about a metre thick black ooze with skeletons buried in and half out of it - it usually stretched on for a longer distance but she only pulled out two metres worth of it.

Yet, it was clear they weren’t human as the bones themselves were black with horns present on their heads and other small discrepancies made this clear. Even more clear than that may have been the demonic aura oozing out of the {Demonic Undead Wall} yet Promicarus doubted anyone would recognise such an aura here. This country was too backward to know what a demonic aura even felt like so she wasn’t too worried about being discovered… Yet she still would prefer to better cover her tracks but she would reveal more if she did get halved.

A red aura began to ooze as a sword. ever so slightly pulled from its sheath, appeared in Eel’s hands as she soon drew the blade only to sheath it. So quickly it put a strain on her arm & waist but combined with that crimson aura forming a blade it launched out into a devastating blow.

It was close but Promicarus managed to summon the wall in time yet she didn’t feel lucky as the blood red energy blade made her powerful defensive creature crumble. Bending in on itself to actually crash into her - the remaining kinetic energy crashing into her like a charging drake - sending her flying backwards towards the wall of a house behind her. The wall managed to take much of the damage and it had already begun to regenerate itself… But she would rather not take the hit anyway!

Nonetheless, a grin formed on her face even as she hit the wall only to slide down it. The giant puppet swiftly turned around and stepped forward with it’s right blade held high in hopes to end the lizard. Although barely she survived the surprise blow which would likely stun the girl for a second; if it were her alone she wouldn’t be able to follow up. But she wasn’t alone as her mighty creation stepped forth to end the- *Crack* the place the giant puppet stepped on had cracked before abruptly collapsing into a pothole that buried up to it’s waist causing it to collapse.

She regretted using a puppet and not a summon or golem now - it had little free will and could only use her skills - if it were one of those it would be able to catch itself but since she was controlling it this occured!

<Still, with my abyss wires I should still be able to->

Before she could even consider what she was going to do as the ball of light Eel had thrown up into the air exploded into a constant shower of radiance - causing her wires to shrivel up! It was so effective she even felt herself being affected. Black smoke rising from her body as various debuffs occurred due to her opposing nature. She was quick to bounce back as she literally jumped up to her feet with a grin on her face.

A new plan quickly occurred that would ensure her victory!

<Well time to do what all the great demon lords of yesteryear do when something like this happens… Time to tactically retreat!>

With that she swiftly used the collapse of her puppet and the regenerating bone wall to dash around the side of the house to vanish into the field. She can always prove how much better she is than Elizabeth Jr Bloodleaf at another point in time - preferably somewhere quiet and abandoned with dark clouds in the background.

<Some thunder and rain would also be a requirement…>

While thinking that she began her escape only to feel her foot brush past a vine… But when she attempted to move she felt the vine tighten around her ankles only to whip upwards. Before she could even realise what happened she found herself hanging upside down with her arms dangling below her. The dragon girl slowly walked up to her.

“So~ who’s better now fufufu~?” <Eel>

“Art thou daft! It is clearly me since if you were hung like this your boobs would be sagging in front of your face preventing you from formulating a move like this *QWATU*!” <Promicarus>

With that Promicarus did the mature manoeuvre of spitting in Eel’s eyes causing her to stumble backwards in surprise while wiping the spit from her eyes. Using the time she had due to this tournament approved manoeuvre two more rifts appeared under her; two giant blades similar to the ones her puppet used! These shot up into her hands which she used to perform a simple weapon art.

“[X Slash]!” <Promicarus>

Swinging her swords in the obvious pattern caused a green ‘x’ slash to shoot out from the giant blades which Eel did manage to not be made into mince with the physical difference between the two of them. Even still she wasn’t unwounded with the most obvious result being the explosion of blood from her torso… Which quickly retreated back into her as she was sent flying backwards by the energy wave. It was simple enough to cut the vine from above (even if she did land on her head) from which she turned around and ran without looking.

“Mwahahaha! Till next time Hero!” <Promicarus>

*CLING*

Promicarus’ thick skull connected with a certain paladin’s breast plate causing a ring the entire village could hear - falling backwards as black took over her vision while her eyes rolled back into her head. Feeling the foam form from her mouth a single thought flashed through her ringing skull.

<So this is how I, the future greatest demon lord, shall meet my end… How tragic…>

Meanwhile Fuka just looked at the scene of chaos in front of herself with Lyada and the local guild master on her flank. Turning her gaze down at the idiot then up at Elizabeth Jr she found herself smiling; her twitching brow proved she wasn’t particularly happy. Eel just began to whistle (badly) while looking around; ignoring the fact her chest was practically exposed for all to see.

“I left you alone for like three hours…” <Fuka>
