A Dangerous Time

“Yuki! Yuki, wake up!” Nana cried out as she held Yuki who was lying limply in Nana’s arms.

“Nana, calm down. She is breathing.” Silvia knew that Nana’s love for Yuki was something that could not be explained in a few words. To her Yuki was life. “She is breathing so she is alive. She must be tired.”

“Don’t worry little ones she will be fine.” An old man appeared out of thin air on the battle stage. Elder Li, who was standing there watching everything, was startled by the person who had just appeared since he could not get a read on him. He could only tell that this man’s power was beyond the mortal realm.

Elder Li put away his normal attitude and cupped his hands. “Senior may I know who you are?”

“Me? I am a friend of this little one.” The old man replied with a smile. This meant he was not going to say who he was and that he was only here for Yuki.

“I-I see….” Elder Li lowered his head. He did not dare to ask too much in case it angered this person. Powerful cultivators, especially those who come down to the mortal realm all have a strange personality about them. They will even destroy entire cities just because the wind blew in the wrong direction.

“Yuki!” Elder Nishikawa appeared on stage and sat next to Yuki. She looked at the burned skin and hair that was almost all gone and frowned. This little girl endured so much.

“Don’t worry. She is fine. Infect, this little girl has done something only legends have been able to do.” The old man replied with a smile. He then adjusted his robes before kneeling down and reached out to place his hand on Yuki’s forehead, but two snow-white hands, much smaller than his own, grabbed his wrist.

He looked up to see both young girls from before staring at him with killing intent, which made him chuckle. “Now, now. Calm down. I am only healing her wounds. It is not good for a young girl to look like this, right?”

Silvia frowned slightly and looked at Nana, who nodded to her. The two then slowly released their grips but were still staying alert just in case he tried to do something to Yuki.

The old man smiled and hovered his hand over Yuki’s forehead. A white light slowly extended out from his palm and onto Yuki before completely engulfing her in the light. The charred skin on her body slowly began to heal at a speed visible to the naked eye. Her hair which had been burnt, was starting to regrow. In just a few minutes almost all of Yuki’s wounds had healed. The old man took back his hand and then fished out a porcelain bottle. He then handed it to Nana. “Give her one of these for the next five days. She will be fully healed by then.”

“Thank you…” Nana bowed her head slightly as she took the bottle. “When will she wake up?”

“In the next half hour. Until then, let her sleep. She has been through a lot just now.” The old man said before standing up. “I will take my leave. But I will be keeping an eye on her for a while.”

These words were meant to deter some of those who were scheming against the little girl. He could not do anything directly, but he could at least leave a threat. Elder Nishikawa stood up and bowed her head at the old man. “Thank you.”

“Mmm… it is good her master is someone like you. Take good care of her. And…” The old man took out a token and handed it to Elder Nishikawa. “If there is a need. I can come one time. Crush this when she is in trouble and only when she is in trouble.”

With these words, the old man disappeared. Elder Nishikawa quickly hid the token and made sure it would never get stolen. She had to make sure to never use this token unless Yuki was about to die. When Yuki went to leave the sect to expand her horizons, she would pass the token to her.

“Ahem…” Elder Li cleared his throat and looked at everyone present. “We will announce the winners in an hour. Everyone can take time to rest. The past week has been hard on you.”

Elder Li then turned to Elder Nishikawa and said: “Bring the girl and her two friends with you and follow me.”

“Thank you.” Elder Nishikawa knew right now it was a dangerous time. Yuki had created a cultivation technique that the mortal world would want to covet. They would all be scheming in the shadows to try to come up with ways to make Yuki give them the technique, whether it be by forced marriage, torture, or worse.

“You two carry Yuki and come.” Elder Nishikawa urged both Nana and Silvia to get moving. Nana quickly scooped Yuki up into her arms. Nana stood behind Nana with her web at the ready. If anyone even slightly moved a muscle that indicated they were moving toward them, she would make them lose their heads then and there.

The Roaring Thunder Sect’s sect master looked at the departing figures and sneered. “That little bitch…. Someone go tell the Poison Sunder Sect’s sect master to come talk to me. I wish to make a deal.”
