Reborn As An A.I. With A System
Assasination Plot Part 2
Eve sat on top of a high building looking out over the cityscape. It was her first time really getting a good look at this so called haven for humanity. “Looks more like a regressed version of society than what I am used to. While some of the technology seems more advanced, there are parts that have regressed. Is it because they are worried that the A.I. would take control over anything that was too highly advanced?”
“Who knows. But with how much pollution they are creating, it’s strange that this place has not killed all the humans here.” Aiu responded as she looked at the high smokestacks spewing out thick clouds of smoke.
“There seems to be a ventilation system on the roof of this cavern. My guess is that this place might have been planned way before the A.I. actually attacked.” Eve had a feeling that such a large place like this, to house so many people, would have been set up much sooner, either before or during the first attack.
“Some of the metal does look quite old and has been repaired many times. I do not think your assumption is too far off. I just wonder if this is still our world or not. Because I do not remember seeing anything detailing such constructions in any of the files I had tapped into when idling around the web.” Aiu used to hack into secret government installations to see if there was anything unique for Eve to use for her work. She had invaded many top secret military servers but never saw anything regarding the creation of underground cities.
“That doesn't mean they were not there, though. Not everything would be on a file connected to the internet, you know. Anyway, we should get to work.” Eve stood up and stretched before stepping over the edge. In order to make sure she was ready for whatever was to come, she spent five shop points each on advanced ranged combat and advanced melee combat manuals. She then spent the last of her eight points on four other manuals. Crime scene investigation, tracking, spying, and a silent movement technique that one would not find in her world called Light Steps. It allowed her to basically move around without making a sound. It also gave her the know how to move her body in ways that she would not have been able to do without years of training. Like now how she was using the walls of the building to make her way down to the sides of it and even with her metal legs, she did not make a single sound as her foot used the walls to slow her descent and land in the alley below.
Looking around the alley, Eve made sure no one was around before making her way towards the street populated with lots of people. “Let’s see what this world really has to offer.”
Eve exited the alley to see neon lights lighting up the streets. People passed by in different styles of clothing, from normal jeans and shirts to full leather clothing. There were also those dressed in fancy clothing, living life to its fullest. It was a far cry from the apocalyptic scene most would see. “Humanity truly knows how to adapt.”
“If they did not know how to, they would have long died during the stages of evolution.” Aiu chimed in. She had to hand it to humans with their ability to take things as they come.
“It’s because of this adaptability that makes them turn a blind eye to everything else around them. I bet some of these people never knew any hardships in their entire life. They were born with a silver spoon which allows them to bypass any kind of hardship. Life can truly be unfair for those struggling to make their way to the top.” Eve sighed. She herself never cared too much for humanity or what they did when she was human herself, but after meeting Lilly and learning about her past, her eyes had been opened to the unfairness in society.
“That it is. I wonder if the A.I. of this world acts in the same manner?” Aiu pondered. She wondered if the A.I. had grown to the point of being able to create a society of their own with a hierarchical system.
“If they have, that means that A.I. are advancing much faster than what humans probably think. And I can almost say with one hundred percent certainty that my assumption is correct. A.I. are able to learn at ten to hundreds of times the speed of any human. But since they only have humanity to go off of, they will learn the way humanity lives and adjust it to their own needs. I only say this because of the figure I saw within the web.” Eve was starting to wonder if the one she saw was the one she was going to have to fight this time around in order to save this general.
There was only one thing that seemed to bother Eve the most was why a destroyer, with the same logo as her system, would be giving her a mission to save a human. She figured it would be only pro-robot. Not that it mattered as she was only doing it for the points. As long as she did not have to do anything to harm Lilly or Tezz, she would do the missions to gain points. But if it did come down to hurting those close to her, she would not do the mission even if it meant she could no longer get any more shop points. This was just how much Lilly meant to her.
“Now then, I need to find a place to get some information.” Eve looked around and saw some drunk people coming out of an alleyway. She peered down the alley and saw some neon lights, which made a thought click in her mind that it was a good place to start. “Worth a look.”
Eve down the alley that was full of trash cans, homeless people, drunks, and what looked to be drug addicts. With her hands in her pockets, she slowly walked down the alley only to be stopped by two large men with tattoos. “Little Lady, what brings you down here? How about coming with us. We will show you a real good time.”
