“Captain?” Todd turned to see his captain walking over and lowered his head. He had let his anger get the best of him, and now he knew he was in trouble. But deep down, he hated Eve. She had stolen the girl he loved and was even a cyborg. He didn't care how she became like that all. All he knew was that those who were trying to become what the enemy of mankind was, he would hate them to the bone. He was starting to wonder if Eve had been brainwashed and was now working for the A.I. as a spy. With this thought in mind, he raised his head once more. “Captain, I have reason to believe that this woman is an A.I. spy! I mean, she came from the battlefield, right? Plus, her legs look old and not the ones normally used for cybernetics. This tells me that her limbs were not regulatory.”

The captain stopped and looked at Eve’s legs and frowned slightly. He had to say that what Todd said just now did make sense… But even still… “Todd, I do not think….”

“Captain, before you dismiss my words, do you remember the case about the men at the reclamation center? They were all found dead by gunfire. What if…” Todds sneered as he turned his head and looked at Eve. “She is a trained soldier and knows how to use a weapon.” 

Lilly couldn’t take it anymore and jumped out of the truck. “Todd, you fucking bastard! You are actually trying to pin such a huge crime on my girlfriend!? How the fuck was she supposed to be doing any of what you said when she was naked under me for the past few months!?”

Lilly’s words caused everyone to freeze. All the men looked at Lilly’s petite frame and then at Eve. Just imagine those two doing that… Their minds began to wander in many different directions. Eve chuckled and walked over to Lilly, whose chest was rising and falling rapidly due to her anger, and pulled her behind her. “If you wish to see my identification card and time of service, here you go. As well as my most recent maintenance.” 

Eve had been fully prepared. After she learned all the laws, she went right to work hacking and forging a fake identity for herself. The captain stepped forward and took the identification, and ran it through the scanner on his wrist. “Eve Amai…. Served two years front line, was given honorable discharge due to being injured in a battle. Received many awards for saving her comrade even with everything below her waist being blown off.”

As the captain's words fell, Todd’s face began to grow more twisted and ugly. He couldn’t accept this! If he couldn’t rip these two apart today, he could not call himself a man! “Captain, are you sure those are not forged? You know how smart A.I. are. Forging a few credentials is….”

“Are you a fucking idiot, Todd? I know you have never been to the front line before, but let me tell you this. These credentials are made here, and each one has its own unique coding pattern, and if someone wanted to create a fake, they would need to break into our main mainframe! Are you this dumb that you do not even understand this!? Our mainframe is guarded by the best systems in the world. No A.I. has ever been able to crack it!” The captain yelled. He was getting sick of Todd's crap.

On the other hand, Eve was wishing she could raise her hand and say that everything Todd has said so far besides her being a spy was one hundred and fifty percent correct! She not only killed the people from the reclamation center. Her legs were also taken from an old A.I. from the same center. She was also an A.I. that had hacked into their mainframe computer and created a fake identification. In a way, Eve had to bow to Todd's ability to make up things that were actual facts.

“At any rate, her last maintenance is also valid.” After saying this, the captain gave Eve back her cards. He did not know that the maintenance card was actually real and that the old man who would always loan Lilly his hauler was drunk and only looked at her legs for ten seconds before making out the card.  

“But!” Todd wanted to continue but was suddenly grabbed from behind. “Todd, give it up. You know the punishment for slandering and abuse of power. All the facts have been laid out.” One of the two guards who came over to arrest Todd said. They both gave him an expression that they were disappointed in him. They didn’t even give him a chance to say anything before slapping cuffs on him and dragging him away. 

“Captain! You shouldn’t trust her! There is something strange about her!” Todd was still dead set on trying to get Eve arrested as well, but his words fell on deaf ears. 

The captain looked at Eve and shook his head: “I apologize for my subordinate’s actions. You two may go.” 

“I will thank you then.” Eve said with a smile before pulling up her hood. She then walked Lilly over to the truck and opened the door for her before walking around to the other side. She, of course, walked to the back of the truck to avoid the scanner and pretended to check the tailgate before making her way to the passenger side door. 

When Eve got in, she buckled her seatbelt and poked Lilly in the side. “Let’s go. We wasted a lot of time.”

“Mmm…” Lilly started the engine and began to pull forward. It was now her time to be worried. They had to stop at the gate to get scanned before they could pass through the gate. As they sat there, ten minutes went by before the full inspection was done. When she saw one of the guards wave their hand at her to keep going, she finally let out the breath she had been holding in.

“Now then! We can now go on our second adventure!”
