“I know you are hungry, but before you go anywhere, you need to at least have one magic spell to attack with, or you will just be throwing yourself at a rank one magic beast not to hunt it but to feed it. So for now, come back into your dreamscape” Yumi knew Sora already knew this, but she was making sure he knew not to go running off just yet.

Sora entered his dreamscape and was once again sitting down with a naked beauty in his lap. “Okay, now let’s go over how to create a magic spell. Spells are strange, and unlike other parts of the soul fusion magas system, they are much more complex as they need many things. First off, all spells need a base. The base is the element of which the spell will consist of. In this case, we will use the fire element as it is the best choice at this time.”

“Yumi, can spells use more than one base?” Sora asked. He wondered if it was possible to fuse two elements together to make a new kind of spell.

“It is possible, but at your current level and power, you would not be able to handle such a spell even if you could create it. If you were to try to cast such a spell, your entire body would explode from mana overload.” Yumi answered. But her words caused Sora’s face to be pale. He never thought one could explode from casting a spell… “Explode?”

“Yes. A lot of magas die because they try to overdo it with little mana. You can fuse spells together, but it takes one of high level to fuse a spell or at least one with enough mana and mental capacity to formulate a spell with their current abilities. While it is much simpler for you to do such a thing since you can just create a program for it, you would still need to at least be an apprentice mage to cast it.” Yumi explained. Sora now understood just how complicated magic truly was. It was not all wave a wand and cast a spell. One's own abilities also came into play. He had to meet a certain criteria to actually cast certain spells, or he could end up dead.

“Now, for a fire-based spell, we will use the element node for fire which is this flame symbol here. We will then drag it onto our graph. Now, this is the tricky part of a magic spell. Each magic spell has its own set of runes. Each rune represents many things and needs to be aligned in a certain way, effectively making the magic circle that replaces the associated with a magic chant.

“While chantless magic exists, it is something only those of a higher realm are able to do and would still be lacking in power. But for you, you are a cheat as you are performing a magic circle with the runic symbols that make up the magic chant. This means you are actually able to cast spells without chants from the start. As said before, to do this by accident in desperate times is a different story and weighs heavily on the caster's body. 

“Now then, the runic makeup for a fireball spell would be like this. ᚠᛁᚱᛖᛒᚪᛚᛚ (Fireball), the spell cast would be Fa Ru Ta Nui Lo Kas Ba Tu. While one could say this quickly in under a second, you only need to hit a button. But just these runes alone would not be enough to make the system worthwhile. Now let’s add this node here, a velocity node. This will make the fireball fly faster than a normal chant fireball and also this node here to amplify damage by two times.”   Yumi connected the four nodes up altogether, making a streamlined system.

“Wait, if we can make it go faster and amplify damage, doesn't that mean we can make it even more powerful now?” Sora was confused as to why she was only using one damage amplifier node.

“You could, but the more you add, the more mana it will take. As you are now no longer a mortal and are in the magic sensing realm, your mana is only at ten points. This fireball with the two times damage will use five of that mana, allowing you to cast two powerful fireballs in succession, then you will need to wait for your mana to regenerate to cast more. Currently, your mana will regenerate at one point an hour. So let’s say I used a second damage amplifier node. This would double the damage but also double the cost from the single amplifier node. 

“This would also mean the mana cost would be double that making it ten mana. You would have a single cast of fireball. Now, if it missed, then what? At low levels, such a fireball would burn everything hit to ashes. While the single amplified fireball would only lightly cook the outside meat so you can have a hot meal. The only way to reduce mana cost would be to rewrite the runic combination to lower it. This is something you can take a look into later on. You may just find the magic combo.” Listening to Yumi’s detailed explanation Sora fully understood what she meant. While the system was very powerful, if the user was not, they could only limit what they could do with the system until they got stronger. 

“I see... Then I will have to do some testing of my own to try to figure out how to make spells less mana intensive and create more spells of different elements. But only after I have eaten something….” Sora was truly fired up now. This kind of system was perfect for him since he liked to tinker around with things.

“For now, rest up. You can go hunting when you wake up.” Yumi said while banging her head against Sora’s chest.

“Alight,” Sora said while hugging Yumi and laying backward, bringing her with him. He then shifted to his side and closed his eyes. Yumi, who was trapped in his embrace, looked up at the now sleeping young man and smiled. She reached up and poked his nose as she whispered: “Bratty Master.” She then shifted herself to get more comfortable before closing her eyes as well.
