Old Dog

Haruhi took the young man’s pulse and immediately frowned. “Poisoned?” Her eyes narrowed as she turned and looked at the old man. “Care to explain?”

“This….” The old man had no words. He had no idea that Little Fu was poisoned!

Haruhi was not going to let the old man come up with any more stories as she interrupted him. “Not only are you trying to pass the blame on a young man who has no ability to do the things you ask of him, but he is also poisoned!”

The old man suddenly had a bad feeling as Haruhi’s eyes swept over him. He quickly looked away, not daring to look into them. Haruhi sneered, seeing the old man avoiding her gaze. She did not know the story behind this young man, but she could easily make use of this to replace the current village chief.

“We will now head to the village hall. We will hold a village meeting, and all residents who are able to make it should be there.” She needed to get a decent understanding of the situation in the village. She turned to Yuki and Nana, who were standing at the side, and gave them a faint smile. “ Junior Sister Nana, can you protect the refugees? I will take Yuki with me as a guard in case something happens inside the village.”

“You can leave their protection to me, Senior Sister. Silvia is also here with me, so there is no need to worry about things out here.” Nana did not like being parted from Yuki, but she knew this was the best option.

“Thank you.” Haruhi smiled before turning to Yuki. “Junior Sister, follow me.”

The old man finally understood what it meant to pick up a rock only to drop it on your foot. He had really done that this time. If he had just stuck with the pact, he would not be in his current situation. He was so busy trying to run through plans in his mind to escape this situation that he did not notice when Yuki suddenly appeared behind him.

“Old man, I suggest moving it, or I might accidentally stick you with my sword.” Yuki’s voice was filled with a teasing excitement that a child would have. The old man turned to see her smiling face, yet at the same time, a wave of bloodlust and killing intent swept over him, which made him shrink his neck. He looked at the young woman in shock. He had never seen a girl with such strong killing intent before! He did not dare to say a word and just began walking into the village. He did not understand who this young girl was, but if the second master’s disciple was willing to let her do as she pleased, it meant that this girl was not simple in the slightest!

Haruhi chuckled inwardly when she saw how passive the old man was now. “They say that you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. In their old age, they are no different than humans. They are stuck in their old ways and are too stubborn to do anything new. Old man, what kind of dog are you?”

Yuki almost burst out laughing hearing Haruhi’s poisonous tongue. She had to hand it that her words seemed perfect when it came to this old man. She took a peek at the old man’s expression to see it was very contorted, as if he was trying his best to hold his anger in.

“You can get mad, you know. Like you can bark out: You damn girl, how dare you! Or who are you calling a dog, bitch! Isn’t this how you villains normally talk?” Yuki couldn’t help but add more fuel to the fire. The old man’s expression was very amusing!

“Yuki, it’s not all villains, only those who have a means of escape,” Haruhi explained.

“Oh! So this old man has no means of escape, so he became passive!” Yuki nodded her head in understanding. She then skipped up next to the old man, patted him on the back, and said: “Maybe next time you will just do things by the pacts you make.”

The old man almost tripped over his own feet. He turned and glared at Yuki before hurrying forward. He couldn’t stand these two brats, who were not even half his age, acting all high and mighty in front of him. If it were not for the fact that they were all from the Heavenly Cloud Sect, he would have gone all out to kill them.

“Junior Sister is right. One should always uphold the pacts they make, or else they are just looking for trouble.” Haruhi felt quite amused at Yuki’s teasing.

When they reached the village hall, Haruhi took the main seat at the front, and Yuki stood next to her. The village chief had no choice but to send people out to call all the villagers to the hall. He did not know exactly what was going to happen, but if he could escape with his life, then he could easily deal with anything else. Right now, he had to act submissive in order to be sure he could stay alive.

Haruhi looked at the old man and understood what he was thinking. He would wait until she appointed someone new and then use his strength to suppress them. She couldn’t help but smile at the old man. This smile caused the old man to feel very antsy. He wished he could figure out what this damn girl was planning.
