Legend Of Yuki: The Wrath Of The Tailed Asura
Passing The Blame
The old man glared at Yuki but quickly retracted his gaze when he suddenly felt a strong killing intent. He looked up to see another girl with a big sword on her back staring him down. He couldn’t help but lower his eyes. He was in a dilemma. He had no answer to her question. He never thought that their stores would be found so easily. “This…. It seems I was lied to…”
“Lied to!?” Haruhi snorted. “That is pretty convenient. Bring this person out who lied to you then. I will give you some time. Or should I take a walk through the village?”
Haruhi had no plans to let this old man off. Even if he was old, it did not mean she would show him respect, not when he was looking down on her sect. She could never lose face for her sect, and someone who did not uphold the pact that was made will never be let off, either.
“I…” The old man thought for a moment before saying: “Bring Little Fu here..”
The guard’s expression changed slightly before he quickly bowed his head and headed back into the village. This slight change in his expression did not go unnoticed by Haruhi or Yuki, who was now standing next to her.
Ten minutes later, the guard came back with a young man who had a limp leg. “Village Chief, you call…”
The old man slapped the young man across the face before the young man could even greet him. “How dare you lie to me about our food stores! You wrote down that we had barely enough food for us to live off of! But in truth, we had plenty!?”
The old man’s expression was fierce as he turned to Haruhi and bowed his head. “This ingrate is in charge of keeping track of how much food we have. I will hand him over to you to deal with as you please.”
“What!? I do not even know how to re…” The young man tried to defend himself but was once more slapped in the face by the old man.
“You dare speak!?” The old man wanted to kill this stupid kid now! It was either push the blame, or he himself would end up shouldering the punishment from the sect!
“Hold on! Why are you hitting him?” Yuki stepped forward and placed her sword in between the two. “Let the young man speak. You can not just go blaming people without giving a proper trial. You say he is in charge of the food storage, but let me ask you this. How can someone with a limp leg carry heavy items? His cultivation is also so low that it would be hard for him to do such heavy work easily. I want to hear what he has to say.”
“Who are you!?” The old man disliked it when people talked back to him or went against him. But because Haruhi was the sect master’s disciple, he had no choice but to lower his head, but this girl, while he was scared of her at first, was trying to ruin his plan! He could not stand for this!
“I am your dad. Who do you think I am!?” Yuki yelled out. Why did this man ask such stupid questions? While yes she had changed clothes after cleaning up, it did not mean she was not someone who liked to dance in the blood of her enemies.
“Pfft!” Haruhi couldn’t help but laugh. Yuki’s way with words was truly amusing. “Junior sister, make sure you do not kill him out of anger.”
“Don’t worry. At most, I might cut an arm off or skin him.” Yuki replied flatly, her eyes never leaving the old man once. “Now shut up and let the young man talk.”
“You!” The old man clenched his fists. He really wanted to beat this girl!
“Yes, yes… You this. You that. I have heard it before from another old man. He almost died from anger. Now shut up and step back!” Yuki gave a firm order. The old man looked at Haruhi in hopes she would pull her junior sister away, but the damn girl just yawned and smiled at him!
Seeing how the old man had stopped talking, Yuki turned to the young man and said: “Go on, tell me what you were going to say.”
“Ah… Ummm.. I can’t read, so it would be impossible for me to take care of the food storage. Plus, I have a hard time getting around. If not for the guard helping me just now, it would have taken me longer to come here.” The young man blushed. It was hard for him to look Yuki in the eye when she was so beautiful.
Yuki nodded before turning towards Haruhi. “Senior Sister, can you check his pulse and tell me what you think.”
“Sure.” Haruhi was surprised that Yuki knew that she also refined pills. It was not noticeable to many, but those with a keen sense of smell could pick up on the faint herbal smell coming from her body.
Yuki could also check the young man’s pulse to check his condition, but she decided to let Haruhi do it since it would make the old man shut up when she gave the results. Yuki could tell the young man was far from being able to do much, and when he tried to speak, the old man always cut him off. So it was easy to tell the old man was passing the blame.
