“Yuki, you have flesh in your hair….” Nana sighed as she walked over, pulled the flesh out, and tossed it aside.

Selene looked at the doting look on Nana’s face and wondered why she was only worried about the flesh when Yuki was soaked in blood. She looked around at the others to see that they were all just smiling away as if this was normal.

“Hehe.” Yuki giggled and hugged Nana. “We need to go deeper into the cave and say hi to our new friends. I really do want to know exactly what they are doing here. I mean, they hid themselves this deep in a cave. They must be up to something.”

“Yuki, I think that is a given.” Delia chuckled. 

“True. True. But think about it. What if this is like some kind of secret society that is worshiping some kind of strange god? Imagine making a blood bath at their sacrificial altar?” Yuki had a bunch of conspiracy theories running around in her mind that all involved her rushing in and killing everyone.

“Let’s just go check it out.” Silvia decided to get things moving. Or else if they let Yuki’s imagination run wild, they might not even get to move from this spot, not that Yuki had a tendency to do such a thing, but when she did get like this, she could really do some crazy things.

“Okay! Let’s go! Boody~ Bloody~ Bloody days~ Oh, how I wish to kill right now~  Boody~ Bloody~ Bloody days~ Oh, how I wish to kill right now~” And Yuki began singing another strange song.

Selene began to realize while Yuki was very kind to those she deemed friends, her personality was slightly warped due to her past. She felt slightly bad but also wondered just how deep Yuki’s pains went. She felt slight pity for the fox girl who had lived through such experiences. Not that her own was any better.

Selene remembered when she first became a demonic cultivator. She was seven at the time. Her family was killed by someone from a sect. To this day, she is still trying to find clues as to who that person was. She was raised in her sect, the Dark Flame Sect, a demonic cultivation sect that hid deep in the mountains.

When she first arrived, she had found that there were many mystic races there. The elders of the sect were doing experiments on demonic cultivation with mystic races to see if they could even cultivate demonic qi. 

But because of her race, Selene found herself drawn to fighting. She would regularly fight with other demonic cultivators and demonic beasts within the pits. She made quite a few friends while there. The only problem was that those friends slowly began to change. Not just their attitude towards her but also their appearance. At first, it was just pale skin, but slowly, their skin began to shrink. Girls who once loved how they looked now looked as if they were the walking dead. It was as if they had aged thousands of years suddenly. 

Selene knew the cause of this. She knew it was because they were using evil methods of demonic cultivation. They would kill people and use their bodies and blood as resources for their cultivation. And it saddened her to know that these people she once called friends were now stabbing her in the back. 

But it was for this reason that after killing a girl she once thought was her true love, Selene began a mission of wanting to try to fix the demonic sects from the inside. She wanted to try to change the ways of the people she grew up with, but time after time, she failed. 

The idea of power was too great for them. They sought to grow stronger, which everyone does, but this strength came at the cost of them turning more and more evil. And when she confronted them and tried to get them to change their ways they would always attack her and see her as an enemy.

It was also because of this that she had trust issues. She could not trust people fully. She dared not. She did not know when she might be killed if she did trust someone completely. Or at least, she thought. Selene’s eyes fell on Yuki. It was this fox girl who suddenly appeared. She entered her life, and for some reason, Selene couldn’t bring herself to just pass her by. 

When She first saw Yuki, she chased her through the woods randomly, all because of her smell. Then she almost died a few times, which Selene could have just left her there, but she didn’t. Selene couldn’t bring herself to let Yuki die. 

Now, when they met again, Yuki was willing to fight with her. But what she found funny this fighting was nothing more than a brawl. They used fists and nothing more. It was as if they were long-time friends just messing around. 

Slowly but surely, Selene understood that she was coming to trust Yuki. She was someone who seemed to wear her inner self on her shoulders, allowing everyone to see who she was. The more she learned the more she felt Yuki was truly a strange existence. Yuki made her want to see a ray of hope in the world that surrounded her in darkness….
