“So reincarnation is real.” Selene nodded her head and let out a sigh of relief. “I do not know how it works, but since it is real, I am glad. This means those who I could not save will have a chance to live a new life.”

“I am not sure how it works, but if for any reason they are reborn on Earth, their life might not be so great….” Delia replied. “Life on earth is not easy. It is only those lucky few who can make it to the top. While it might not be much different from this world, at least here, you can fight. You can gain power and crush those who look down on you. Earth is a world based on laws. One can not do something without having enough money. So those who look down on you will always be stronger unless you can somehow surpass them, which is not easy. To be honest, cultivation is much simpler.”

“Yeah. I think cultivation is way easier. While the two of us were stuck in a hospital to stay alive, we could still watch TV, which shows things as they are happening.” Yuki could not explain TVs very well, so she decided to go the easy route. “I liked watching the news sometimes, and it would always end up with me wondering why anyone continued to try to do anything. But then again, human beings on Earth were creatures of curiosity. They liked to try to do the impossible.

“ This world is so much easier to live in. As long as you strive to become powerful and are willing to risk everything you can make a name for yourself here. While yes, talent also has a hand in things and so and so’s family clan might be trying to hunt you down, but what matters is your resolve to keep pushing forward. On Earth, you can do the same thing, but it is not as easy. There are too many people trying to do the same thing. And by too many, I mean billions.” Yuki explained.

“Your old world is a strange place.” Selene did wonder what it looked like. But she knew there was no point in asking since she could never imagine it.

“Anyway, let’s settle in for the night. You girl’s sleep, I will keep watching.” Delia did not need to sleep, so she did not mind keeping watch. In fact, she really wanted to watch Yuki sleep. She used to do it all the time in their previous life.

“I guess we should. Nana has already fallen asleep.” Yuki looked down warmly at Nana, who was using her chest as a pillow. She had fallen asleep due to the head pattings she was giving her.

Silvia created a hammock made out of her webs, a non sticky type for her, Yuki, and Nana. Yuki placed Nana into it and then climbed in as well and made sure to take the middle so Silvia did not feel left out. 

Delia watched their every move to make sure that she understood what to do when bedtime came. With their current setup, she would have no choice but to sleep on top of her Yuki! Then she could watch Yuki’s sleeping face up close and touch a little here and a little there.

Half an hour later….

“I will keep watch with you.” Selene still did not trust any of them, especially Delia, who was beyond her comprehension. 

“You do not need to be so on guard. I will not eat you,” Delia said with a teasing smile. “You may not have realized it yet, but you already see Yuki as your friend. Otherwise, you would not fist fight with her all this time. You wouldn’t have stuck around, either. Yuki has a charm about her. She is cute and friendly to everyone. And I love that about her. But it is because of this that she can easily get hurt. So, if you wish to be her friend, then be her friend. If you dare try to hurt her, I punch your head off and make it explode. Think about it. If you wish to leave, then do so before she wakes.”

Selene frowned slightly. She did see Yuki as somewhat of a friend, but she still could not give her trust fully. Each one of Delia’s words struck home. It was just that her past kept her from trusting people easily. 

Selene fell into deep thought. She looked at Delia, who was no longer paying attention to her, and then at Yuki, who was already passed out. Delia was right. The fox girl was very cute. And since they were basically cousins, it kind of made her drop her guard a little. She began to think seriously about what it was that she wanted.

Delia turned and snuck a peek at the girl staring off into space and smiled. It seemed her words hit the right cord. She hoped that Selene would see Yuki as a true friend. She did not care if Selene trusted her or the others. As long as she trusted Yuki, then it was fine.

Selene kept trying to turn things over in her mind, but in the end, she ended up falling asleep under the watchful eyes of the one girl she was wary about.
