The Star System: Rise To The Top

After buying a guitar, Kane, who had a dream of becoming a singer-songwriter, stumbled upon a strange glass bead that held within it a system called the Star System. From this moment on, Kane's life slowly started to change. He completed missions and worked hard to earn money to follow his dream, all while taking…

A Song That Resonates

The light of a new day shined through the small bedroom window of Kane’s apartment. He had to get up earlier than normal since he had finally landed himself a new job. He was very happy that he followed his father’s teachings and did as he was told. He figured that if he had not gone back to the same places every day for almost a week, then he would not have landed a job so quickly.

After getting dressed and saying goodbye to his grandparents, Kane headed off to work. He was thinking about how he could finally buy a guitar soon. He had always wanted to play the guitar. It was considered the best for songwriters. While a piano could do the same, the cost difference was just too much. He hoped one day to have a full studio in his room where he could compose music without worry.

Whether he could get famous and make a name for himself would all depend on his own ability. He wanted to be the best, but he knew this was a fleeting dream. He could only try. If he failed, then that was his fate. But he loved music. There was no denying this. The path he walked now was for his dreams, nothing more and nothing less.

Kane had only just stood in front of his workstation, the kitchen sink when he heard a voice come from his side. “Oh? Now that I get a better look at you, you are not too bad. But just because you are slightly good-looking doesn’t mean you can get ahead of yourself. Mama Claire has already said I can kick you in the nuts if you dare to harass any of us.”

Kane turned and was almost blown away by the beauty standing before him. She had blazing red hair and the greenest eyes that shimmered like gems. She looked like a fairy. If he had not known that this was reality, he would think he had been isekia’d. The girl was short and petite, but her beautiful teasing smile and the cunning look in her eyes were just too eye-catching when matched with her beauty.

Seeing Kane standing there staring at her stupidly, Audry couldn’t help but want to tease him. “What lost in my beauty?”

“Yeah….” Kane replied with a nod. He had to admit she was very beautiful.

“Huh? Ah….” Audry was not expecting such a straightforward answer and felt a little embarrassed. She gently tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear before composing herself. “Well, even if you flatter me, it won’t change the fact that if you harass any of the girls here, you will be kicked between the legs.”

“Right. Don’t worry. My father always told me that showing a woman respect was the best way to live an easy life.” Kane felt that his father’s words always seemed to be helpful to him. He did not think much of the things his father said when he was young, but now, he held every single sentence to heart.

“Sounds like you have a good father.” Audry nodded her head in approval.

“He was a good man,” Kane replied with a smile. He liked hearing people praise his father.

Audry took a minute to take in Kane’s words and suddenly felt that maybe she should not have said anything. The word ‘was’ stuck out to her, which meant that something happened to his father. “I’m Sor…..”

“Audry! Get changed and hurry up and take orders!” Mama Claire’s voice came calling back to them as a load of dishes was sent toward Kane. He quickly turned his attention to his job. He did not want to be fired on his first day.

“Coming!” Audry gave Kane an apologetic look only to see him engrossed in his job. She was slightly curious about this young man who was so willing to come every day just to find a job. He was even so grateful to have a job as a dishwasher, it puzzled her.

After his shift at the pizzeria, Kane went to work at his other job. When he finally got home, he collapsed on his bed, wanting to sleep but still pushed himself to try to write his song once more.

His melodious voice flowed out as he sang the first few lines he had written.

__

When you were around, I was always looking up to you….

When you were gone, I can only remember the words you use to say…

Without you, I have been trying to be a better man, following What taught me…

Ohoo~

Ohoo~

__

Tears began to build up in his eyes. These lines were talking about his father. He learned a lot from the man who had raised him up for so long. He had thought of the idea of writing a song about his father when he had spoken to Audry. He had to thank her because he was stuck on where he would go with his first real song. To him, this song resonated with his soul to the point that he felt he could make some great with it. If he could just work up a proper music score to accompany it, it would make things better.

Kane leaned back on his bed and looked up at his ceiling, he reached up with his hand and clenched it tightly. “Father, Mother, I will do my best to accomplish my dreams, so watch over me, Grandma, and Grandpa. I will do my best to make you proud of me.”
