The Star System: Rise To The Top

After buying a guitar, Kane, who had a dream of becoming a singer-songwriter, stumbled upon a strange glass bead that held within it a system called the Star System. From this moment on, Kane's life slowly started to change. He completed missions and worked hard to earn money to follow his dream, all while taking…

Hitting People

Kane and his group walked into the restaurant. They had to wait for the hostess to come over. He watched as Stacey flashed her ring in Jackie’s face happily while Jackie smiled and went along with her antics. Stacey was a girl who wore her heart on her sleeve. She was friendly to everyone, and sometimes, that made people get the wrong idea. He had to make sure she would not get tricked in the future. If he did succeed in his music, depending on what Stacey was doing, he would either bring her with him wherever he went or let her stay home. He would let her choose.

“Oh, if it isn’t Jackie? Since when did you do community service, serving the homeless?” A voice came from behind Kane. His eyes instantly went cold. He turned to see a well-dressed young man looking back at him mockingly. “What? Got something to say to me?”

“Mmm….” Kane nodded, lifted his foot, and shot it forward, hitting the young man square in his stomach. “Don’t think just because you are some kind of rich boy that you can talk shit.”

“Hahaha! Well said!” Jackie burst out laughing. She had never seen Kane get angry before, but she felt this anger was placed correctly.

“Kane! What did I tell you about fighting!?” Kane’s grandmother wanted to slap Kane! He always talks with his fists first!

“When people insult my loved ones, I will not allow them off easily. Just because we do not own brand clothing like this shit head here doesn’t mean were are any lower than him,” Kane replied coldly.

“You bastard!” The young man slowly got up while holding his stomach. He looked at Kane with hate in his eyes. He wanted to make this guy suffer.

“Dean, don’t get any ideas. My brother-in-law was only defending his family and myself. After all, you saying shit to them is the same as saying it to me. Do you want me to talk to your grandfather? I am sure he would love to hear how you are treating people I am close with.” Jackie called Kane her brother-in-law since she and Stacey were as close as sisters.

“Brother-in-law!? You are a single child! Jackie, don’t think you can talk big all the time. Your Heartland family is only able to do so much.” Dean replied through gritted teeth. “What he did just now is considered assault, and I can call the cops now and have him arrested.”

“Oh? You want to have my daughter’s friends arrested?”

Everyone turned towards the newcomer to see a middle-aged man standing there in a black suit and tie. “What? Did you not hear my question? Dean Sprouts, I asked you, are you trying to get my daughter’s friend arrested?”

“M-M-Mr. Heartland… I-I…..” Dean shivered. He could talk big toward Jackie, but when it came to her father, he could only lower his head. He did not even dare to say he was going to call the cops anymore.

“Jackie, what happened?” Jackie’s father ignored the stuttering idiot and turned to his daughter.

“It’s like this….” Jackie explained what had just happened to her father, causing him to frown. He turned to Dean, who was still standing there with his head lowered, and yelled: “Dean, didn’t your father ever tell you how you should act in public!? You dare look down on others when you have this kind of character!?” Jackie’s father took out his cell phone and made a call. “Mr. Sprouts, that business deal we just talked about. I am calling to cancel it. You can ask your son why I am canceling it.”

Dean’s face paled. He wanted to stop Jackie’s father, but he could not say a word. He knew when he got home, he was in for a beating. He glared at Kane as if that was going to do anything. Of course, Kane was not going to even let a glare off. “Why are you looking at me? Did I call your father? All I did was kick you.”

“You!” Dean really wanted to punch this guy! He hated him to the bone. His eyes looked at everyone there until they fell on Stacey, who was looking cuter than usual since she was dressed up due to getting married. His eyes flashed with a bit of lust in them, but before he could finish getting a good look, his vision darkened, and he felt a stinging pain in his nose. “Fuck!”

“Don’t look at my wife like that!” Kane roared.

Everyone was stunned. No one even saw Dean’s expression just now, but seeing how angry Kane was, they knew the bastard did something! Kane was very sensitive to men looking at his girl. He would not let any of them off for staring at her with such eyes. He knew he should not be this way, but he also knew it made Stacey feel uncomfortable.

Blood dripped from Dean’s nose. He looked at Kane, who looked as if he was about to step forward again and took a step back. He had never encountered someone who was all about hitting first and asking questions later. He turned to look at Jackie’s father in hopes that he would stand up for him in this case, but all he saw was a mocking smile! He could only grit his teeth and bear with it for the time being. “I will settle this another time!”

Dean turned and walked out of the restaurant. The two girls that were with him didn’t even follow. They were staring at Kane in a daze. As they say, strong men will attract the beauties. Stacey frowned, seeing the girls staring at Kane. She slid over to stand in front of him and hugged his waist. She turned and looked at them with a furrowed brow and said, “Stop staring, or I will hit you too…”
