Incident In The Alley In The Alley

Kane had just finished cleaning things up in the kitchen and was taking out the trash. He still had his other job to go to and had been working here at the pizzeria for a week now. Besides Audry who liked to tease him whenever she got a chance, there was a girl named Monica and another girl named Stacey that also worked here. Monica worked weekends and at night while Stacey worked the night shift and only came when he was getting off. Stacey was only sixteen and was still in high school.  

Normally Kane would take the trash out and then head back inside to punch out but on this day…. “Let go of me! I said I would not go with you!” Kane heard a familiar voice not too far away. He was in the side alley and the noise was coming from the cross-section from the back side of the building to the alley next door. 

“What’s the problem? Didn’t I say I would take you out tonight!?” A young man’s voice was heard. Kane normally would not get involved in such spats, but he did not like the tone of your young man’s voice. He sounded more commanding than asking. Not to mention he recognized the voice. While he did want to go take a look, he still held back and only listened.

“I never said that! You are just trying to force me to go out with you!” The girl’s voice rang out. Kane who was just standing there, listening this entire time, finally moved towards the other alley. When he turned the corner, he saw Stacey standing there with her arm being pulled up by a young man with black hair, his anger grew.

“Can you let go of my sister,” Kane asked as he walked over. His eyes turned cold as he stared at the young man.

“Who the fuck are you!? Everyone in school knows that this girl is an only child!” The young man yelled. He was not planning on letting Stacey go. He had already told his friends he was going out with her today.

“Oh? Since when was my sister an only child? If I said your parents were bother and sister, would you believe me? That would mean you were a by-product of incest.” Kane’s words confused and angered the young man more. He threw down Stacey’s hand and turned towards Kane pointing his finger at him.

“I don’t know who the fuck you are but you need to fuck…. Ouch fuck!” The finger that had been pointing at Kane was swiftly grabbed and bent backward before a strong kick fell onto the young man’s stomach.

“It’s not nice to point at people. It’s very rude. You will get hit for it. Didn’t your aunt-mother ever tell you this?” Kane asked. He was still making the young man out to be a child of incest. He had a mocking smile on his face as he looked at the young man who was now sitting on the ground.

“Hehe.” Stacey couldn’t help but giggle. She rubbed her swollen wrist before hopping over to Kane’s side and hugging his arm. “Brother, don’t waste your time with this trash. He only knows how to be forceful when it comes to girls.”

“But, guys who try to force girls need to be taught a lesson. Father has always taught me to take care of the family and not to let others bully my sister. If I were to let this bastard go now, won’t I be punished by father later? After all, he is the police commissioner.” Kane made sure he emphasized the last sentence. He watched as the young man’s face paled.

“Brother, just leave it like that. I will tell father that you did good so he won’t hit you. And Alex….” Stacey looked at the young man, who was unsure if he should try to escape or not. But when he heard his name called, he almost jumped out of his skin. “Don’t try to touch me, and do not talk to me anymore, okay?”

“Yeah… I promise!” The young man, Alex, nodded his head. He was still young, so he did not know any better. He did not know if these two were lying or not, nor did he care. He just did not want to get arrested since he would get it at home.

“Since my sister is such an angel is letting you off, get out of here. But make sure you do not say anything about who her father is. My sister has to live an ordinary life, but that does not mean I will not make sure those who mess with her will live happy lives or live at all. I think you know what I mean, right?” Kane’s eyes were so cold that Alex almost peed himself. The look Kane was giving him was the look a murderer would give to their prey. He felt that the young man, who was only a few years older than him, had already killed many people. He quickly nodded his head, not daring to say no.

“I promise never to say a word!” Alex replied, his voice shaking.

“Alright, get going.” Kane watched as Alex got up and ran off, not even looking back. Only when Alex was out of view did he let out a sigh of relief. He looked at Stacey, who was looking back up at him with a bright smile on her face, and smiled back. “It’s good you are okay.”

“Thanks.” Stacey also let out a sigh of relief. “He had been hitting on me for a month and had asked me out four times. I kept rejecting him, but he refused to give up.”

“There are some crazy people out there. I will stop by before your shift ends to pick you up. You walk back and forth, right?” Kane asked. He did not want Stacey to be walking home alone after this incident.

“Yeah, but it’s only four blocks over you don…. Ow!” Kane flicked her forehead, making her let go of his arm and stare at him with an aggrieved expression. “Why did you flick me!?”

“Because you do not understand what danger is. He might have left now, but if he decides to come back, or worse yet, follow you home, then what? Won’t you be in danger? Don’t think just because he was scared off this time, that things will go well next time. If he was smart or if he came to his senses, he might look up the police commissioner and find out who his family is. I do not know how smart the kid is, so you need to be careful.” Kane needed to make sure Stacey understood that things are not always so easy.

“I… Okay. I will wait for you in the store?” Stacey asked. While she felt like she was being treated like a child, she also felt warm in her heart. She did not know being treated like this would feel so nice.

“Yeah, I will speak to Mama Claire and let her know.”
