Warned Again

“Heh…” Kane chuckled softly to himself. He had been wondering how to get more points, and now he had a mission, but he did not think that his first mission would be so hard. Learning to play the guitar was not simple. But he was already determined to do so. His path was one of fantasy as it was. So if he wanted to get a foothold anywhere, he would need to at least know how to play one music instrument. Just singing alone would only take him so far unless he tried his luck on one of those music programs he had seen on TV. But even he knew he was only mediocre when it came to singing. He loved singing and was told he could sing well, but that did not mean he would be able to face off against those who had been singing all their life and had the training to do so. 

He had never been in a band. He had never sung in front of a crowd. He had always been wishing to start a music career, but he had to take care of things at home first. But now that he had this system thing and was now able to boost his own skills through these missions, he felt he could actually make it as a singer-songwriter. It seemed like a cheat, but everyone had some sort of cheat in life, whether it was money or talent. He just had a different kind of cheat.

Kane hummed to himself as he read the guidebook seriously. Only after reading it two times did he finally pick up the guitar and pluck the strings.

Kane was slightly surprised, but he put it aside and figured his mission would be complete as soon as the level went from 0 to 1. He practiced seriously all the way up until he had to leave for work at Mama Claire’s pizzeria. But he had not made much progress. Of course, he was only just starting out.

When he entered the back room, he was greeted by Audrey’s teasing smile once more. She walked over to him and bumped up against him. “Soooooo….. Did you do anything to Stacey yesterday?”

“Audry, what kind of person do you take me as? I am not someone who takes advantage of others. Whether they are male or female.” Kane sighed as he pulled out his work shirt and pants and began taking off his shirt, but paused and looked at Audry, who was still standing there staring at him. “Do you plan to stay and watch me change?”

Audry, who was in a daze staring at Kane, snapped out of it and shouted: “No!” before blushing, turning, and quickly running out of the room. When she left the back room, she patted her chest. Her heart was racing. She had to admit she got sucked into Kane’s good-looking body. He looked slightly skinny, but he actually had such toned muscles! Coupled with how he seemed to have gotten more handsome since yesterday, she felt that she was going nuts. 

Kane shook his head and chuckled. He looked down at his body and realized it did seem slightly more muscular than before. “Is this because I raised my strength?” Tilting his head to the side, Kane pondered for a moment before shaking his head to forget about it and putting his work clothes on. 

The Pizzeria was quite busy as normal. Many people came here because not only was it very cheap but the food was some of the best in town. It may be a pizzeria, but they also made pasta dishes, fried foods, burgers, and hotdogs as well. Ninety percent of all the food made here was made in-house. Only a few items, like the meats and vegetables, were bought from outside. 

This made it so that the pizzeria was able to sustain its employees and even cut cost since they were making things from scratch. And it was because of this that it was a popular place and had even been featured in a few magazines. 

Mama Claire had started this business in her twenties and had kept it going all this time.  And it had always had a good reputation for good food at cheap prices. They also did not skimp on the portions either. 

When 2pm hit, it was time for Kane to head to the school. He had long lost track of time, and it was Mama Claire who came to the back to tell him to head out. “You can go get her. Just finish up when you get back. Also…. Her mother called me and said you would be bringing her to school in the mornings as well. She wanted me to thank you for your help. She was glad someone was willing to protect her daughter. But remember….” 

Mama Claire’s eyebrows furrowed as she stared at Kane. “If she is unwilling, do not force that girl into everything. It seems you have gotten her mother’s approval, but I will not let my girls fall for some trap and end up discarded! If you two end up in a relationship, so be it but do not dare make her cry, or I will not let you off!” 

Mama Claire was protective of her girls. She saw each one of them as her daughters and granddaughters. She would protect them no matter what. She had even beaten a man with a metal pole for touching one of her previous employees. She ended up in court and everything, but in the end, she was found not guilty. 

Kane nodded his head. Cold sweat had formed on his back. If he was scared of anyone, it was the grandmother type. His own grandmother was at fault for this. She had put the fear of death in him. “Don’t worry. I will never harm Stacey or any of the girls here.”

“Good. You are a good kid, but do not let your hormones lead you astray. If she is willing, it is different, but then you must care for her. Anyway, I warned you enough. Go get Stacey and get her here in one piece.” Mama Claire turned and left, leaving Kane behind. He let out a sigh of relief as his tense muscles relaxed.

He got his things together and headed out. He was still wearing his work clothes, so they were slightly wet, but he did not see a reason to change since he had to finish up when he got back. But he did feel slightly chilly. The days were not as warm as before. But he ignored it and headed towards Stacey’s school.
