Path of Caylin
Mushrooms
After a while of running around, I start to look at the surroundings a little more closely.
I am apparently in an underground mushroom forest.
But, why would you want to be in such a place?
As far as you look, there are either rocks, moss, roots or mushrooms in all sizes and colors.
Oh, and the stream to my left.
I have changed sides a few times.
By the way, there are no creatures in the stream.
No fish.
No insects....
Was it really such a good idea to drink from it?
Actually, I'm doing quite well...
-hmm...-
I'm squatting in front of one of those blue mushrooms.
The ones that magically attract my gaze, for whatever reason.
These shining mushrooms look really fascinating.
About the size of my fist.
A black stem that has more and more white spots towards the bottom.
The cap is brown and flat, but at the edges and under the cap it glows blue.
A beautiful bright aquamarine blue.
Now that I look at it longer, you can also see that there are many small glowing parts falling down.
The mushroom is really magical.
The longer I look at it, the more I think it's two mushrooms.
Hmm...
Somehow I feel strange.
I should... look away...
With a sudden jolt, I remove my eyes from the mushroom.
My whole environment seems to lighten at once and I see also somehow everything double.
However, the effect is only short-lived and my view returns to normal.
-What the...
The fungus is dangerous!
As soon as you see it, you can hardly take your eyes off it.
Uhh...what an underhanded characteristic.
I already have the desire to look at it again.
Well, maybe I'll look at something else to clear my head.
So I look directly at the next mushroom... well, it doesn't glow and the mushroom is also smaller.
Or better, it is a group of mushrooms.
Since I walk along the water you can see this gathering.
On the side of the stream, near the water, there are many small groups of mushrooms about the size of my thumb.
The mushrooms themselves don't look special but for some reason I'm really afraid to step on them or even touch them.
As far as I can tell, the mushrooms have a white stem with a brown cap that is quite high and pointed at the top but also rounded.
And he has an extremely penetrating scent.
Also, they're kind of always in groups.
-I should go on... For some reason, the mushroom seems quite dangerous to me.
After I got up again, I followed the stream.
Everything seems to be dangerous here.
Why the heck am I here?
If only I knew what was going on!
-This is really driving me crazy-
Every now and then I see roots hanging over the water with these yellow balls.
My curiosity gets the better of me and I take a closer look.
At the roots seem to grow a kind of yellow berries in the form of clusters.
Also the yellow berries themselves seem to glow.
On closer inspection, however, I notice that the berries attract yellow threads.
-fascinating-
Approaching with my hand I feel the temperature getting colder.
The berries seem to grow only on the roots and directly above the water.
I must say that there are really strange things here.
And no explanation for it!
I now understand why everyone in the light novels has this godly skill called appraisal.
I would love to have this skill, maybe I could find out more about my situation.
And be able to see if something is edible here!
My gaze wanders a little away from the creek and I see a single flower.
As a matter of fact, I've seen it a few times before.
It is a single flower whose blossom looks like a white bell.
It is not very big.
But it is a flower.
So far, the first I have seen in this world!
Yeah after a while all the mushrooms really hang out to the throat.
Mushrooms here mushrooms there.
Fungi that you have to climb over.... mushrooms that pull you in with their hocus pocus.
Mushrooms...
A little further away from me I see a new plant.
It looks a bit familiar to me.
In about 10 meters distance is a gray fuzzy...
...
Copper-Claw-Rat!
Yup, it's not a mushroom!
And not a beautiful flower either.
About the size of a cat, a rat is nibbling on a mushroom stem.
This is one of the mushrooms that are a little bigger.
The one on which I walked before.
Maybe I shouldn't walk on them anymore or another one will break away underneath me.
Looking at the other mushrooms, you can see that they are also nibbled.
…
...the Copper-Claw-Rat doesn't seem to have noticed me yet.
I duck about 10 meters away between a few mushrooms and roots and observed it.
-when I look at the rat you can see that it has white-grey eyes-
-is it blind?-
Interesting, it seems that the rat is not seeing anything.
According to my observation, the rat seems to take off the skin of the mushrooms to get to the white mushroom meat.
Apparently this is edible for the rat... maybe for me too?
Hmm... I'm looking at my spear right now and I have to come up with a really stupid idea, but it should solve my hunger problem.
-Yes, it will definitely go wrong-
Probably it's just my stupidity, but I decide to take the initiative this time and not to be the one who is attacked, but to be the attacker.
To have a better chance I cautiously move a little closer.
I stand about four meters away behind the rat and slowly raise my spear.
I have not been noticed yet.
After a slight hesitation, I take a swing and throw the spear with all my might at the rat.
The spear flew at the rat with such force that it pierced the rat and pinned it to the ground.
[1x Copper Claw Rat 3 XP]
A perfect hit in the head.
The rat was instantly dead.
- am i really that strong?-
-Well, that solves my food problem.
It seems that the Copper-Claw-Rat was alone, at least there was no movement in the area.
I retrieved my spear and began to work on my prey.
After I had eaten I left the leftovers and looked for a place where I can rest a bit.
I am so exhausted but out of fear I have not dared to rest until now.
except for the small time out after my last meal.
However, my full stomach only tired me out even more.
I found a small overhang under which I can hide, and it is even well tarrnt because a few roots hang in front of it.
Here I should be able to rest a bit.
With the spear and the claw in my hand I leaned against the rock.
...
But I did not really come to rest.
I just have too many things going through my head... I'm getting really homesick.
And not only that I did not notice it right but I'm totally shivering.
Is it because of the cold?
Probably also... but I'm also just frightened.
Afraid of dying... what would have happened if I hadn't hit the goblins... or if they had...
Unknowingly, tears ran down my face.
After a while, exhaustion overcame me and I nodded away.
