A Rich Girl

A week later Kane, along with Stacey, her mother, and Kane’s grandparents, all headed down to the city clerk’s office. The clerk looked at the two young adults in front of them and wrinkled his brow. “Are you sure you want to let this girl marry at sixteen?”

“Yes. My daughter and my son-in-law love each other very much.” Stacey’s mother replied with a smile. “They are both good kids and work hard. I have faith that they will live good lives in the future.”

“Alright. I have to ask this any time I see an underage girl getting married.” The clerk smiled and signed the document in front of him. “Give me a minute to print out your license.”

A few minutes later, the clerk came back with two little booklets and a camera. “Congratulations on your marriage. Please stand together so I can get a picture of you two.”

Stacey’s eyes were wet. She never thought she would marry so young, but she was glad she was not only fulfilling her mother’s wish but also tying down the man she had fallen in love with. She hugged Kane’s arm and leaned against his shoulder as she smiled at the camera.

After getting a copy of the photo, Kane and everyone exited the building. Stacey’s mother walked up and hugged the two of them, her eyes full of tears. “I am so glad. Thank you for doing this so early. To be able to see my daughter getting married makes it so I can go in peace.”

“Mom…” Stacey’s voice trembled. She hugged her mother tightly, not wanting to let go. 

“Alright. This is supposed to be a happy day. We already reserved a private room at the restaurant. It’s almost time, so let’s head over there now.” Kane’s grandmother did not want to see everyone getting gloomy. She knew this was hard, but she also knew they had to continue on. 

Helen nodded. She knew she had said too much. But she couldn’t hold back her joy. She held Stacey’s hand and patted it gently. “Let’s go. Today is a day of celebration.”

As the group began to walk once more, Kane’s grandmother grabbed his shoulder. Kane turned and looked at her in confusion. “Grandma?”

“Here.” Kane’s grandmother handed over a small box. 

Kane looked down at the item in his hand and blushed slightly. It was a box of condoms. “Ahem….” Kane’s grandmother cleared her throat awkwardly. “Stop staring at them and put them away! Just make sure you wait before getting her pregnant. If you need more, just ask. I can go get more for you. But remember this is your wedding night so you will need to do what you are supposed to. I will bring Helen to our house. You two can spend the night at Stacey’s alone.”

“Alright…” Kane nodded. He was a little excited and nervous at the same time. Just as he was about to turn and walk once more, another hand grabbed his shoulder. He turned to now see his grandfather holding a small pill bottle. “Grandpa, this is?”

“It will make your sword stand tall through even the toughest of battles. Make sure you make her first-time one she will always remember.” Kane’s grandfather replied as he pushed the bottle into Kane’s hands. 

He looked down at the label to see the word Viagra on it. His whole face went red. He was really wondering why his grandparents were playing the wingman! But he was grateful he also did not want to end up being a one-minute warrior. “I will put these to good use.”

“Haha!” Kane’s grandfather laughed and patted his shoulder. “Remember, it is not cheating to use things to help you along.”

The group continued on their way. When they reached the restaurant, Jackie was waiting outside. Kane had called her here to celebrate. Mainly because he did not want to hear it later on. “Jackie!” Stacey called out before running over and hugging her best friend.

“To think you actually made him your husband.” Jackie pursed her lips. She looked at Kane and snorted. “If you ever harm her in any way or try to divorce her, I will hunt you down and snip off the thing between your legs. I will only allow you to break up if Stacey is the one initiating it.”

“I guess your wish will never come true then. Since you will never get a chance to snip it off.” Kane replied with a smile. He was happy that Stacey had a friend like Jackie.

“Good.” Jackie was satisfied. She knew Kane was a good person. Unless he and Stacey ended up getting into a huge argument or Kane cheated, she knew that Kane would never harm Stacey. “Oh, right! I took the liberty to up your reservation to a bigger room and had them set up a wedding special. There will be music and a cook who will cook everything for us right in the same room. There will also be a surprise later on.”  

Everyone was stunned by Jackie’s sudden announcement. Kane had also wanted to get the wedding special, but the cost was huge! Kane did not know how he was going to pay Jackie back… “Jackie, this….”

Jackie cut Kane off by waving her hand. “I might look like a little trouble maker but believe it or not all my clothes are custom-made and cost a thousand bucks each. This little bit of money is nothing to me. This upgrade is my wedding gift to the two of you. So just have a good time tonight.” 

In other words, she was a rich girl.

“Then I sincerely thank you.” Kane was very thankful for Jackie’s care. “Since we are all together… Before we go to the room, I want to do something first.” Kane reached into his pocket and pulled out a small box. He looked at Stacey and said: “This is not much. I will definitely buy you a better one later but for now. This ring will be the proof of my devotion to you.”

Kane opened the box and pulled out a small wedding band. It only had a small diamond in it, but it was all he could afford. Stacey’s eyes locked on to the ring, and stared at it. She was completely stunned! She had not expected to receive a ring. She was already asking for so much. But now… Tears rolled down her cheeks as she shyly held her hand out. Kane took it and slid the ring onto her finger. “If it is too loose, let me know. I will be sure to get it refitted for you.”

“No…. It’s perfect.” Stacey replied as she bit her bottom lip. She was doing her best not to burst out into tears. She looked at the ring on her finger and brought it to her mouth, and kissed it lightly. “I love it. Thank you, Kane.”
