An upscale neighborhood, a far cry from the city that she had just been in. There were no billows of smoke in this place. Just grass and trees that were grown from the special lights overhead. It was the place with those of high status in the city lived and where many deeds go unseen. 

Earlier, when Eve had talked with Gus, she found out that there were a total of three suspicious figures in the city. One of which fit the description of the figure she saw in the web. “Aiu, what is your take on all of this?”

“I am not sure. The figure you saw could have been human, or it could have been an A.I. There is no real way to tell as there is no evidence to prove one or the other. But knowing there are three different figures in the city that seem to match what you are asking for, then there might be a good chance that one of them is the assassin.” Aiu was having a hard time herself trying to figure this one out. It was hard to determine what was what with so few clues.

“You are right. We will only be able to find out once we catch the culprit. I will be counting on you to keep scanning for any lifeforms that are moving suspiciously.” Eve was not trying to detect just human body signatures but also anything that was moving.

 In order to do this, Eve’s horns were letting out waves in different frequencies that covered the area. They were not something any human could detect without the right equipment, but they were very handy in finding targets that were moving. They would make a small map and outline the area allowing her to see her surroundings. With how the waves wrapped around solid objects, there were no hiding places. Even if there was something moving on top of a house, it would show up as a dot on the map. One of the waves would detect heat sources as well on moving objects which would tell Eve if they were human or not.

If it was a fully cybernetic body, then it would show up as an A.I., which was the only downside. But in those kinds of situations, it would be better to just shoot first and ask questions later than to let an enemy get the drop on you.

 Thanks to all the manuals Eve had shoved into her memory, she was able to understand and do things without the slightest need for any training. She would be able to understand and know how to use the information in her mind instantly. This was a perk of becoming an A.I.

After an hour of sticking to the shadows, Eve finally arrived at the mansion where General Thomas was said to be living, according to the information she got from Gus. Eve stationed herself near a telephone pole near the mansion. She plugged into the lines leading into the house and opened up her Astral desktop. Within a matter of minutes, she already had access to the cameras of the house and was able to see and hear everything that was going on.

“Oh? Looks like the General still knows how to get it up.” Eve smirked as she watched the General and a young woman going at it in one of the rooms. 

“Eve, are you really going to watch them do that?” Aiu asked. She wondered why Eve found this so interesting.

“Not like I want to watch, I have no choice. Their target is the General, after all. But I must say this looks kinda boring. That girl is faking it. I mean, look at her eyes as he plows her. She looks like a dead fish. But the words coming out of her mouth are pretty dirty. Doesn't look like the General cares whether the girl feels good or not.” Eve chuckled. She would never let Lilly feel like she had to fake it. She would always make her little minx feel good.

“Eve, we got company. Not human. They are walking slowly and should be here in a few minutes.” Aiu suddenly warned. 

“Oh? Did we already run into the target?” Eve looked down the back alley to see a young girl with a goth lolita dress on an umbrella to match. 

“Hello! I have been looking all over for you. I never thought I would meet you here.” The young girl said with a smile as she twirled her umbrella.

“You are from inside the web,” Eve responded, showing no signs of fear. “From the looks of it, you're an A.I. Why are you here?” 

“Tracking. One of the ‘new kind’ is plotting something, and it will interfere with our plans, so I came to check on the target.” The young girl responded.

“Oh? So you are not here to assassinate the man inside?” Eve asked as she slowly stood up. She was ready for a fight at any second. She was very impressed with the quality of craftsmanship the A.I.s had done with their humanoid models. But she knew now was not the time to be admiring the construction.

“It is not his time to die yet. He still has some uses. More importantly, I must ask you, are you a friend or foe? At first, I thought you were human, but now that I get a closer look, you are a unique model A.I. Not human and yet not an A.I.” The young girl looked at Eve with great interest.

“I am neither friend nor foe to anyone. But if someone touches those who are close to me, then they will become my enemy, whether it is a human, A.I., or whatever this ‘new kind’ is that you are talking about or any kind for that matter. I could care less if you want to take over the city, but if you touch the people I wish to protect, I do not mind dismantling you to see how you tick.” Eve knew now was not the time to be acting humble, she would lay down her reverse scale here and now. 

The young girl looked at Eve with a stunned expression for a few seconds before suddenly bursting out laughing:  “Hehe… Hahaha! Now, this is a first since the day I was created. No one has threatened me but…. For some reason, I feel close to you. So I will make a promise. I will not touch those you wish to protect, but I also need to know who they are.”
